Dear Hydro Floss,

I have another interesting case report for the Hydro Floss®. You'll remember my initial experiment on myself in 1990 with Hydro Floss®. I stopped brushing and flossing my teeth for two weeks and used only the unit. I am still amazed by how little plaque and calculus built up during that time and also the immaturity of the plaque. I have used Hydro Floss® for my patients and myself extensively since, but one case stands out in my mind.

Recently I had a patient present with both acute and chronic periodontal problems. He had a history of very poor home care and professional care (emergency only). He needed treatment but was not able to start therapy for several weeks. He insisted on postponing all treatment. The only thing I could advise him to do was use the Hydro Floss® twice a day. I took photographs initially in two weeks. I think they display a remarkable change. The inflammation was down, the plaque was greatly reduced and I believe that the calculus was also less. Note in particular the maxillary and mandibular anteriors. The patient also reported that his mouth felt much better. As far as I can determine the only change in his behavior or care was the Hydro Floss®.
